"Stand Your Ground" Taskforce Coming to Orlando Area Next Week

June 8, 2012 | WMFE - The state panel appointed by Governor Rick Scott to investigate Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law lands in Longwood next week. The Task Force on Citizen's Safety and Protection holds its first meeting Tuesday at the Northland Church all day.

The public will be allowed four hours for public comment starting at 1pm.

The parents of Trayvon Martin, Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton are planning to attend the meeting.

They say they will present more than 340,000 petitions asking the task force and lawmakers to change or repeal the “Stand Your Ground” measure.

Members of the Second Chance Campaign including Central Florida Urban League President Allie Braswell is also expecting to attend.
