Florida Lawmakers Part of Discussion on Federal Highway Funding

The US Senate has announced its conferees to resolve differences between the House and Senate versions of a bill to extend federal highway funding. Two powerful Florida lawmakers are expected to be included in the process.

Included in the group of 14 senators is Florida Democrat Bill Nelson.

The House conferee group is expected to include the house bill’s sponsor, Winter Park Republican John Mica.

The two groups will have some work ahead of them to resolve differences.

The senate bill would fund highway programs for two years at a cost of 109 billion dollars.

The house bill is a 90 day extension of the current highway funding bill which expires at the end of June.
