Rick Scott Backs Angela Corey and FDLE in Trayvon Investigation

Florida Governor Rick Scott says he is receiving daily updates from the state attorney Angela Corey on the Trayvon Martin investigation. Corey was appointed after the Seminole County prosecutor stepped aside.

In Orlando Friday for a ceremonial bill signing at the Central Florida Workforce Board, Governor Scott said he has faith in the abilities of special prosecutor Angela Corey.

“She cares about victims, she cares about making sure there’s justice for those that might be accused of something," he said.

"I’m very comfortable with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, I’ve worked with them quite a bit since I’ve been governor and I think they’ll do a great job."

Scott said it’s important that both the Martin family and George Zimmerman get justice.

He said his thoughts are with Martin’s parents.

“I had the opportunity last Thursday night to meet with the mother and father, and your heart goes out to them. I’ve got daughters, 27 and 29, to lose a 17 year old son, you just can’t imagine.”

Public outcry over the lack of an arrest is increasing, and more public rallies are planned in Sanford this weekend.
