March 15, 2012 | WMFE - Recent changes to Florida's voting laws in are the focus of new education and awareness efforts by the Central Florida Urban League.
Florida lawmakers passed new laws in last year’s legislative session to combat, what they say, is rampant voter fraud. But many voter rights groups say the restrictions on address and name changes, a reduction in the period for early voting and stricter requirements for photo identification are attempts to suppress voting among minority groups.
Allie Braswell, President and CEO of the Central Florida Urban League, tells 90.7’s Tom Parkinson that his group is working on several fronts to fight the new election laws and to ensure that citizens are aware of the changes.
