Gingrich Camp Signs Up Two Experienced Central Florida Politicos

January 6, 2012 | WMFE - Two Central Florida political leaders are pairing up to head GOP Presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich's campaign in Florida.

Former Orange County Mayor Rich Crotty and former Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum will co-chair the effort.

McCollum says Gingrich has chance for a much stronger showing in Florida’s GOP primary later this month compared to this week’s results in Iowa, “There is a chairman for Gingrich in every county in the state, all 67.  There’s a big grassroots organization.  I just think he’s got a better opportunity in Florida than he did in Iowa or has in New Hampshire.  I can’t speak for South Carolina, I assume he’s got a pretty good organization there.”

Recent polls in Florida have shown Gingrich in a strong position, but he finished 4th this week at the Iowa Caucuses behind victor Mitt Romney.
