November 3, 2011 | WMFE - Lawmakers in the Republican controlled state Legislature are proposing measures to curb illegal immigration in the state. But one Central Florida state senator says he will sponsor legislation to make children of undocumented immigrants eligible for in-state tuition rates.

Democratic State Senator Gary Siplin of Orlando says he will file a bill that would allow any student who went to school in Florida from 10th grade through graduation to pay the lower tuition rate at any state college or university.
Siplin tells 90.7’s Tom Parkinson that since state law requires those students to attend high school, it’s unfair to deny them the same tuition rates as other Florida high school graduates.
