Seminole County Says No to Most New Charter Schools

Oct. 21, 2011 | WMFE - Charter schools are emerging as a popular alternative to public schools in Florida. The charters are publicly funded but are operated by private companies. Governor Rick Scott has been a vocal advocate for expanding charter schools across the state but the school's private operators are receiving a mixed reception in Florida school districts. Some are rolling out the red carpet and others saying "No Thanks" to most charter school proposals.
