Leading Orange Republican: Central Florida Again a Bellwether

Sept. 23, 2011 | WMFE - Orlando was in the spotlight Thursday night as the leading Republican presidential candidates met for a nationally televised debate. Thousands of GOP activists, elected officials and candidates are in Central Florida for the three day "Presidency 5" event at the Orange County Convention Center. This afternoon, attendees will hear from the four leading GOP contenders competing for the opportunity to run opposite Democratic US Senator Bill Nelson next year.

The Senate forum is hosted by Florida’s other US Senator, Republican Marco Rubio and will feature Former U.S. Sen. George LeMieux; former state Rep. Adam Hasner; retired Army officer Mike McAlister and former restaurant executive Craig Miller.
Recent polls show most Florida Republicans are still undecided in the Senate primary race.
90.7’s Tom Parkinson spoke with Orange County Republican Party Chairman Lew Oliver and asked if he thinks today’s debate might help clear up that choice for some voters.
