Joe Kittinger Makes His Record Breaking Jump

August 02, 2011 | WMFE - In August of 1960 Joe Kittinger jumped out of a high altitude balloon above the New Mexico desert and into history. He was 19 miles high, at the edge of space. "I could see for 500 miles", says Kittinger about the experience. The record still stands 51 years later. On this Intersection Orlando area resident Joe Kittinger talks his work with Project Excelsior, being captured as a POW in Vietnam, and making a record breaking balloon trip solo across the Atlantic Ocean.
