Hank Fishkind: Economic Diversity Helps Balance Central Florida Budgets

July 19, 2011 | WMFE - As cities and counties around Central Florida present their spending plans for the coming year, some contrasts are emerging. Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs is proposing a budget that's 5% less than last year's. It includes lay offs for the first time in 4 years. Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, on the other hand, came out with a more optimistic budget. The city's spending plan includes no lay offs or cuts in services. 90.7's Tom Parkinson asked economic analyst Hank Fishkind what's behind the differences between the budgets of the City of Orlando, Orange County and the rest of the state.
