The non-partisan Brookings Institution study ranks Orlando 83rd out of the top 100 US metro areas for its mass transit’s ability to get commuters to work in a timely fashion.

John Lewis is the CEO of Central Florida’s Lynx bus system. He says he knows how to fix that.

“I think the most important thing for us here in Central Florida is bringing Sun Rail into existence. Sun Rail will become the spine of public transit in this region,” Lewis says. “And then, for us to be able to overlay that spine with very effective, fast-running, easy-to-understand bus transit.”

The Sun Rail commuter line would link Volusia, Seminole, Orange and Osceola counties. Governor Rick Scott has delayed the project for a cost analysis, which is expected in July.
