Hank Fishkind April 5 - Harry Potter Gives Central Florida Economy a Boost

April 05, 2011 | WMFE -The latest report on employment in the US was released last week and was a little stronger than some economists had expected. The US Labor Department's report for March showed private sector employers adding more than 200,000 jobs.

Here in Central Florida, the employment numbers were given a boost by hiring at Orlando’s Universal Studios. Much of that growth was due to the popularity of the theme park’s “Wizarding World of Harry Potter” attraction.

90.7’s Tom Parkinson asked economic analyst Hank Fishkind if the other attractions in the area and the nearby restaurants, shops and hotels, also enjoyed some of the spill over from the “Harry Potter” attraction.
