Segal stopped by the WMFE studios to talk about his tenure on the board, his accomplishments and regrets.
Segal said, as a registered Democrat, he faced an uphill battle in this year’s election cycle.
“It was a rough year” Segal said. “There was a lot of partisanship injected into what was supposed to be a non-partisan campaign and, for me, for Ms. Jacobs and for many people that serve in public life, emotions oftentimes overrule facts and logic.”
Segal said one of his major frustrations in politics is the difficulty of communicating complex issues to the public.
Asked if he would consider running for office again, Segal replied “ They say ‘never say never,’ but I want to tell you something: Never! I will never run for public office again. It was a very distressing part of my life.”
Segal also discussed the Lake Nona Medical City complex, Innovation Way East and the new Amway Center.
He discussed those and other topics with 90.7’s Tom Parkinson.
