Space Florida Executive Says Space Workers Will Find New Jobs

January 7, 2011 | WMFE - Nearly 150 workers at space shuttle contractor United Space Alliance are being laid off today. The company expects to let several thousand people go as NASA's shuttle program comes to an end sometime this year.

The state government agency Space Florida has been working to help retrain space industry workers and to attract new aerospace businesses to Brevard County.
90.7’s Tom Parkinson spoke with Space Florida President Frank DiBello about opportunities for laid off aerospace workers.
DiBello says aviation and other high-tech companies value the highly skilled space industry work force and, he says, those workers should be able to find new jobs without leaving Florida.
