Hank Fishkind November 16 - New Water Quality Rules

November 16, 2010 | WMFE - The federal Environmental Protection Agency has set water pollution standards for Florida's inland waters. The new rules announced Monday are part of a settlement with state environmentalists. Environmental groups sued because, they said, the state was not doing enough to clean up wastewater from industries, farms and homes. The new rules set dramatically lower standards for phosphorous and nitrogen levels in lakes, streams and rivers. 90.7's Tom Parkinson has some background on the issue and a conversation with economic analyst Hank Fishkind on how the new rules may affect Florida's economic recovery.
