Candidates Report Fundraising Totals

July 26, 2010 - With the August 24th primary election less than a month away, candidates for statewide office have released their campaign finance reports for the most recent quarter.

In the race to be Florida’s next governor, the Democratic candidate, Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink, reports more than $5.8 million dollars on hand compared to $45,000 for independent candidate Bud Chiles. On the Republican side of the gubernatorial race, Bill McCollum has $543,000 in his account while primary opponent Rick Scott reports $656,000. 

Democrats Dan Gelber and Dave Aronberg are roughly tied in fundraising for the state Attorney General’s race. Each campaign reports about $660,000 inthe bank. Hillsborough County Prosecutor Pam Bondi leads on the Republican side of the AG race with $401,000; Lt. Governor Jeff Kottkamp has $316,000; and Holly Benson, former Secretary of the Agency for Health Care Administration has $275,000.
 
In the race for Chief Financial Officer, Republican Jeff Atwater enjoys a huge financial lead with $2.1 million compared with Democrat Loranne Ausley’s $622,000.
 
The Republican in the Agriculture Commissioner’s race also is far ahead in fundraising.  Adam Putnam has $1.3-million while his Democratic opponent Scott  Maddox has raised $394,000.
