Anthony Trial Stays in Orange, Jurors Will Come from Another County

May 10, 2010 -- Jurors for Casey Anthony's murder trial will be picked from outside Central Florida, and then brought back to Orange County for the proceedings.

Chief Judge Belvin Perry made the ruling Monday, after Anthony’s defense team argued instead for a change of venue. Anthony’s attorney, Jose Baez, said that Orlando-area residents had been tainted by negative media coverage of the case.

Perry told attorneys for both sides that he will notify them once he has chosen a location similar to Orange County, from which to select jurors. He added that he will seal that information from the public until the beginning of the trial.

Casey Anthony, 24, has pleaded not guilty to the murder of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee. The toddler was missing for thirty days before Anthony contacted police in June 2008. Caylee’s body was discovered six months later in a wooded area near Anthony’s home. The trial is scheduled for May 2011.
