Hank Fishkind May 4th - Economic Impact of Gulf Oil Spill

May 04,2010 - The oil slick in the northern Gulf of Mexico continues to grow. Experts estimate that more than 200 thousands gallons of oil per day are gushing into the Gulf and say much of it will eventually come ashore. We often hear discussion about the impact on tourism if the beaches are affected but oil seeping into marshes and coastal wetlands can also inflict severe economic damage on the commercial and recreational fishing industries. 90.7's Tom Parkinson asked economic analyst Hank Fishkind to estimate how much this spill could cost those industries.
