Brevard Workforce Hopeful for Space Industry's Future.

President Obama is unveiling his vision for the future of the space program today at the Kennedy Space Center. Many of the workers at the space center are hoping that the president's proposals include plans to keep them employed.

Among other proposals, the president is announcing the revival of the Orion crew capsule, which was cancelled as part of the Constellation program. He also is announcing the creation of $40 million dollar initiative to help KSC workers who are laid off when the space shuttle program ends later this year.
90.7’s Tom Parkinson spoke with Lisa Rice, president of Brevard Workforce, about what she hopes President Obama will do to keep skilled aerospace workers on the space coast. She spoke with WMFE from an airport in Colorado as she was returning from the National Space Symposium in Colorado Springs.
