Lawmakers Face Big Budget Gap as Legislative Session Starts March 1, 2010 -- The state legislative session gets underway in Tallahassee tomorrow, and lawmakers will have to find a way to plug a $3 billion budget hole. Legislators will also take up a number of education proposals, including a constitutional amendment that would make it easier for schools to meet class-size requirements and a proposal to replace the FCAT with end-of-year exams. Other bills up for consideration include a possible ban on texting while driving and a proposal to lift the ban on oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico.
