Hank Fishkind January 26 Unemployment and Rental Vacancies

Late last week, two important economic stories surfaced. Friday, the federal government released the unemployment figures for December 2009 showing Florida still shedding jobs. The report shows the state's jobless rate inching close to 12 percent. Also last week, data was released from the US Census Bureau indicating a glut of rental units on the market in Central Florida. 28 percent of residential rental properties are vacant in the Orlando area. 90.7 economic analyst Hank Fishkind says there's a direct correlation between these two bits of economic news.
