Hank Fishkind December 1 Economic Ideas for the Special Session Florida's state legislature is preparing to meet this week in a special session on commuter rail projects. The lawmakers will try to get Central Florida's Sun Rail project going and identify a permanent funding source for South Florida's Tri-Rail system. Federal leaders have made it clear that Florida must show a meaningful commitment to these commuter rail projects if it wants to qualify for 2-amd-a-half billion dollars in federal stimulus money earmarked for High speed rail projects. 90.7's economic analyst Hank Fishkind says approving commuter rail will be good for the state's economy but he says some items besides rail should be on the agenda to help get the state's economy back on track.
