Romney Widens Lead Over Gingrich in Florida Opinion Poll

Jan.30, 2012 | WMFE - A new poll of likely Republican voters in Florida shows former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney heading into Tuesday's presidential preference primary with a 14-point lead over former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

The Quinnipiac University Polling Institute conducted the survey over the weekend among 539 likely GOP voters in Florida.
The respondents favored Romney by 43 percent compared to 29 percent who preferred Gingrich.

The survey showed Texas Congressman Ron Paul and former Pennsylvania U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum each with eleven percent support.
The Quinnipiac poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.2 percentage points.
Romney built on a lead of 9 percentage points over Gingrich from the last Quinnipiac poll released on Friday.
